The Sapphire Coast offers visitors some of the best whale watching opportunities in Australia. You’re bound to spot these gentle giants as they pass each year as they head north (May – July) and during their southern migration, usually with young calves in tow (August – November).
With 5km of pristine, white beach and crystal clear water, it’s no wonder Merimbula Main Beach is a haven for surfers seeking uncrowded waves beach lovers. There is an off-leash area for dogs. If you’re feeling energetic, the beach extends all the way to Pambula.
Merimbula Boardwalk is a 3km round trip along the northern edge of Merimbula Lake. Look out for the resident seal who patrols the oyster farms for a fishy snack. There are plenty of seats along the way plus a kiosk where you can stop for a snack.
